Chapter 92: The Imperial Prince

Situ Hongyu was awakened by the heat and he felt feverish all over his body and wanted to wake up, but his body felt weak. He found it extremely difficult to open his eyes.

Hadn’t he died? Then was this the underworld?

“Niangniang, you must not die. The Empress said you would be fine and would wake up after three days. But three days have passed and why are you still unconscious? Niangniang, quickly wake up. The Young Master has been waiting for you to wake up all this time.” Qingzhou had been taking care of Situ Hongyu for three days and nights without rest. After the Empress left that day, she told him that Situ Hongyu would wake in three days and to take good care of him. But these three days had passed and the niangniang had still not woken up. He was at a loss of what to do.

“Niangniang, quickly wake up…”

Situ Hongyu fell asleep, but the familiar voice next to him gradually became clearer. It seemed to be Qingzhou, but how could he be there? He must have heard wrong….

It’s just that this familiar voice was sounding more and more realistic….Situ Hongyu finally opened his eyes after a long struggle. Qingzhou called out in surprise, “Niangniang, you are awake! Are you uncomfortable anymore, Your Majesty, you worried Qingzhou to death!”

He thought he had died, but it wasn’t that he had given up,  but that loss of vitality had been so strong that he felt that he could no longer hold on. But, he did not die and in his memory, he seemed to recall what the Empress said to him…..

Hearing his Master’s question, Qingzhou was taken aback for a moment and then seemed to think of something, showing a strange expression.

“What’s wrong? What did you think about just now?” Growing up with Qingzhou since he was a child, Qingzhou’s every move and expression could not escape Situ Hongyu’s watchful gaze and Situ Hongyu naturally noticed his weird expression.

“Niangniang, this, this servant does not know what is going on. But, this servant believes the Empress saved you. Three days ago, you lost a lot of blood giving birth and this servant thought….thought that this was the end, but the Empress used her strength to save you. Situ Hongyu couldn’t figure it out, but the more he thought the more he became aggrieved. He felt that he had done many wrongs before and had hurt so many innocent people. Such a distinguished and accomplished Empress had a large harem, but that had nothing to do with them. At that time, he had hurt so many innocent people by relying on the Empress’ favor, but he later suffered for the consequences. The words the sovereign Empress had said had also come true.  From the favored Imperial consort in the harem to the sinful Imperial consort banished to the Cold Palace, he fell from the clouds to the dark abyss in one day. Those who fawned and flattered over him on a normal basis ignored him, but also those low-status palace guards would bully him. They did not have enough meals to eat and could not even control the temperature of their rooms. His life was miserable. Perhaps, if he hadn’t been pregnant, he would have already lost the will to live long ago.

This servant will come here to show you, the Prince is very adorable.” Thinking of the Prince, Qingzhou smiled, walked to the side of the crib and gently picked up the sleeping infant.

Exerting great effort, Situ Hongyu sat up and stared at the infant closely. This was his child, how nice, he was still able to see him.

“Niangniang, do you want to hold him to take a closer look?” Qingzhou carried the infant in front of Situ Hongyu and softly asked.

“En.” Situ Hongyu carefully took the child and held the infant in his arms. Feeling the soft and small body in his embrace, he suddenly felt the strong urge to cry. At this moment, he thanked the Heavens for letting him have the chance to touch his own child and to be able to watch the child grow up little by little.

“Niangniang, the Empress said, when you wake up, she ordered someone to inform her. Should this servant send someone to inform the Empress right now.” Qingzhou thought of the Empress’ order before he left and felt that the Empress seemed to have something to say to his Master.

“…..Since it is the Empress’ order, then you can go.” Situ Hongyu’s expression darkened. The child had been born and they should establish an understanding between the two of them. If he remembered correctly, the Empress wanted to kill him at the beginning and the reason why he did not want to kill him was because of the existence of this child. But, now that the Empress had saved him, would she have the inclination to kill him again?

Situ Hongyu is not stupid, he could understand some things. But, he could not predict how the Empress would arrange for him and as for his child….

Qingzhou sent people to report to the Empress and then asked attendants to bring some healing tonics for Situ Hongyu to drink. After drinking the tonics, Situ Hongyu looked much better and his complexion became rosier. He did not even appear to look like a weak man who had just given birth and Situ Hongyu himself felt very relaxed. He did not even feel tired, which is very miraculous.

“The Empress has arrived!”

“This consort greets the Empress, long live the Empress!” Situ Hongyu greeted Liyou by kneeling on his knees and still referred to himself as a consort. Although the Empress had let him return to the palace, she had yet to forgive him of his sins.

“Arise.” Liyou walked into the room and her eyes searched around the room. Finally, her gaze landed on the small and exquisite crib. The child was still sleeping soundly and Liyou walked over, looking at the child with bright eyes.

“How long did it sleep?”

“Replying to the Empress, the little Prince has been asleep for more than an hour, so he should be waking up very soon.” Seeing the Empress caring so much for the Prince, Qingzhou replied immediately.

Liyou took a few more glances at the child and stretched out her hand to caress the child’s face carefully. She found that the child’s pink and tender face was unusually smooth, so she could not help but touch it again.

The child seemed to sense the touches in his sleep and slowly opened his bright eyes. People said that the brightest eyes in the world were children’s eyes, pure and bright, without any impurities.

Seeing that the child woke up, Liyou was obviously taken aback for a moment and glanced at Qingzhou, anxiously saying, “Come take a look, the child is awake.” She had only touched it lightly, how could he have woken up already? She hoped that he would not cry….

“The little Prince should be hungry after waking up. This servant will go get some fresh milk for the little Master.” The children raised in the harem did not breastfed. They were all fed fresh goat’s milk and other types of milk. Once Qingzhou left, this left two anxious adults to watch over the infant.

“Your Majesty, did you come here to say something to this concort? Situ Hongyu asked directly. Asking earlier would be the same as asking later, so why not do it according to his own timing?

“Situ Hongyu, you do not need to refer to yourself as a guilty consort. If Zhen allowed you to come back, this means that Zhen will no longer pursue past transgressions. Zhen just wants to tell you to take good care of your child and do what you like. You are still Zhen’s consort and this child is also Zhen’s prince.”

In the past few days, she had been thinking about Situ Hongyu and the child. She felt that the situation right now was the best. As long as Situ Hongyu did not do anything she could not tolerate, then she would allow him and his child to live peacefully within the palace. The child was white, tender and cute, which caused her to be quite fond of the child. She did not want the child to be wronged and she also hoped that the child could grow up safely and happily.

“….This consort thanks Your Majesty for the Imperial kindness!” Thousands of feelings, thousands of emotions, the Empress’ words had lightly decided everything for him. He was grateful but also felt sour in his heart.
