Blood-Sucking Empress Ch. 91

Chapter 91: The Enchanting guifei Gives Birth

“Your Majesty, the Anbu Black Ops has a report that the three countries have secretly contacted the ministers of the court and prepared a large amount of gold and silver to be sent to the minister’s residences. In addition, I have been tracking the spies in the Imperial city from various countries. The Anbu Black Ops have already been keeping an eye on these people and are awaiting your orders.” Anhui reported the news gathered by the Anbu Black Ops to the Empress. Ever since the envoys from the three kingdoms entered Qianhe, his subordinates had already targeted these people who had had obvious malicious intentions.

“Very good. But do not act rashly, just keep watching these people. Zhen wants to see how big a wave these people can make. Hmph, the three kingdoms, even if they form an alliance, Zhen will not be afraid!” She knew that the reason why these countries had sent envoys was because they were afraid that she would attack the three countries and wanted to probe Qianhe’s true strength. But in any case, no matter whether it was a short-term peace or a battle, immediately after these people returned, war would be inevitable. The agents in the Anbu Black Ops had sent the latest movements of the countries and their combat preparations had been growing increasingly frequent. A big war was inevitable and Qianhe Liyou also felt that the current situation was too chaotic and it would eventually lead to fighting. Well, that being the case, she would no longer be polite. Since war was unavoidable, it did not matter whether she started it or not. She did not care about such a reputation.

“Yes, but how should those ministers be dealt with?” Although most of the ministers did not accept these gifts, there were still some greedy for property and accepted it. These transactions, although they were made in private, would not fundamentally hurt Qianhe. It was a manifestation of disloyalty to Qianhe and among the perpetrators, there are many ministers who were from foreign lands. It seems that although these ministers are talented, they still cannot forget the country from which they came from. Fortunately these people did not hold any important positions and are still under investigation.

At the beginning, the Empress had wanted to recruit talents, and people of insight from all over the world flocked to the country, one after another. Although Li da-ren and Long da-ren had carefully selected them, it was impossible to completely eliminate the existence of spies. After all, spies from all over the world were everywhere and there were most likely spies among the ministers that had their positions shuffled. Hence, the Empress had already ordered people from the Anbu Black Ops to monitor suspicious individuals and in the end it was these people who were the problem.

“Why bother to deal with it now, just continue monitoring. And now, send someone to tell Li Yao, Long Xizhao and the others, as long as they are truly trustworthy ministers, they will accept whatever the others give as presents. Once war starts, these funds can be exchanged for food and our soldiers can have a few more meals. Why not accept!” She did not care about the amount of money, but she also knew that war required a lot of money and material resources. Now that someone had given it away, although it was a little less, it was better than nothing, so there was no reason not to accept it!

Anhui was a little dazed by the Empress’ order but he understood the importance of money. But, since ancient times, since when have Empresses encouraged their subjects to accept bribes? Wouldn’t such a precedent be bad? Although Anhui had a moment of hesitation, this kind of thought was only fleeting. The Empress’s orders would be fully implemented, “Yes, this subordinate will do it now!”

“En, go.”

Anhui took the order and left. As soon as he left, he saw a servant rushing over and say to Fengying: “This servant greets Chief Fengying. Chief, the Enchanting guifei is about to give birth and the Imperial Physician has already been summoned.” The servant who came were among the new servants assigned to serve the Enchanting guifei

Since the Enchanting guifei returned to Yaoyu Palace, his treatment had been returned to that of a palace consort and there were many more attendants serving him now.

“Truly? I’ll report this to the Empress right away.” Feng Ying was overjoyed and immediately went to report and Anhui left after seeing this interaction. Enchanting guifei was about to be promoted and this made people’s hearts turn sour from envy. Anhui hoped that he could give birth to the child safely.

“About to give birth…let’s go, Zhen wants to have a look.” Liyou hesitated before deciding to go and have a look.

When Liyou arrived, the child had yet to be born and attendants stopped her from the door. When a man was giving birth, women were naturally not allowed to go in. Liyou waited outside the door and when she heard heart-wrenching screams from the inside, this made Liyou furrow her brows. Was it really that painful? There was no danger, right?”

“Ah….” There was another sharp cry of pain, Situ Hongyu’s voice sounded a little hoarse. Everytime Situ Hongyu cried out, Liyou’s brows knitted tighter and she suddenly regretted letting Anhui have a baby. What kind of child was this? To be this painful, and even to be risking one’s life, she should not have agreed at all!

“Ah!” As soon as Liyou thought about this, there was another shout that erupted from the inside and the screams became louder and louder. This made Liyou feel a strong urge to break through the door.

“What’s going on? Go in and take a look for Zhen!” Liyou grabbed an attendant and shoved them in, but no one came out after a while, making her wait in anxiety.

Liyou had always been calm, but at this time, she showed an anxious expression. She originally thought that she would not care, but standing here, listening to the cries of the man inside, she felt that she was not as heartless as she imagined. Instead, she felt extremely impatient.

“Yes, yes, this servant is going now!” The attendant ran in in a panic and then rushed out after a while, “Your Majesty, the Imperial Physician said the niangniang is having a difficult birth and that is extremely dangerous!”

“Before the attendant finished speaking, another attendant rushed out and spoke to the Empress, “Your Majesty, Yun da-ren asked the servant to come out and ask the Empress. If, if there is an emergency, do you want to save the child or…”The servant hesitated to say the following two words, but everyone present already understood what the servant was trying to say.

Liyou’s face turned cold and she angrily said, “Presumptuous, what are you talking about? Go in and tell her that no matter whether they are the consort or child, Zhen wants to see them both alive and will not permit any accident, understand?”

Not only the servant who came out to inquire, but the people standing on the side were frightened by the Empress’ icy tone and the servant ran in quickly, but there was no sound outside the courtyard. Luo Weiqing who had just rushed over was also frightened by the Empress’ anger, but he quickly reacted and asked with concern, “Is the delivery not going well?”

As King Consort, regarding the Empress’ firstborn child, it was natural that he came over to take a look. But he could not expect to see the Empress looking so furious.

“It will have to go well, I will not allow it otherwise!” Liyou did not turn her head back and stared straight at the closed door. The voice crying from pain on the inside had already long gone hoarse, and sounded extremely weak.

For half a quarter of an hour, the voice was slowly becoming weaker and weaker. If it wasn’t for Liyou’s hearing which was more sensitive than ordinary people, maybe she would not have detected it. But this weak whimper tightly grabbed Liyou’s heart!

Finally, just when Liyou could not hold back any longer and wanted to rush in, there was a loud and powerful cry and the baby was finally born. When Liyou heard the cries of the child, she couldn’t bear it anymore. She felt that she could never have such patience in her life again and she felt that she had endured long enough. In the future, if her men wanted to have children, she would definitely not wait outside the door again.

“Ah, Empress, niangniang, niangniang is….is about to die, please save her Majesty!…” The attendant who had always stayed by the Enchanting guifei’s side, upon seeing her entrance, immediately rushed over and knelt on the ground, begging desperately .

“Your Majesty, this minister is useless, please forgive me!” Imperial Physician, Yun Yangrong knelt on the ground with an expression of frustration. She had tried her best, but giving birth was already a very dangerous thing and this Enchanting guifei had a difficult delivery. It was already lucky to have kept the child.

Liyou ignored Yun Yangron’s plea and did not spare a glance at the servant’s miserable appearance. She walked directly to the bed. Lying there was Situ Hongyu with a haggard and pale face, looking as if he was having trouble breathing.

“Child…” Situ Hongyu could feel his vitality slowly fading. He knew that he was dying but he had no regrets. Everything would have been worth it if this child could be born safely, but it was unfortunate he could not watch the child grow up….

“Niangniang,  it is a little prince, look at how cute it is. You must hold one, you have to watch the prince grow up well..” His attendant, Qingzhou, cried and embraced the little prince, saying this in a very sad tone.

“Qingzhou, take good care of the little prince…..also, these past few days, thank you…cough cough…..don’t cry anymore…. Cough, cough…..” Situ Hongyu strenuously raised his hand to caress the child’s face. He said his final statement in a stammering, halting manner. If there had been no Qingzhou to take care of him during this time in the Cold Palace, perhaps he would never have been able to see this child at all. He was truly grateful to Qingzhou.

“No no, niangniang, this is what Qingzhou should do, don’t say that. You must preserve and take care of the prince with Qingzhou. Niangniang, the Imperial prince cannot live without you…”

There was a faint but beautiful smile on Situ Hongyu’s face. He turned his gaze to the Empress standing on the side, a hint of pleading in his eyes.

“Your Majesty, this consort begs you, cough cough, take good care of the child so that they may grow up safely, cough cough. This consort……is sorry…” A dying person would always think about their past. He knew what he did wrong. He loved his child so  much and how could others not love their own children? Those innocent lives he took in the past were his sins.

“This child will be taken care of by you personally, no one will take care of him better than a person who risked his life to give birth to him.” Liyou approached the bed and while speaking, her eyes turned a blood-gold, a strange feeling emanating from it. Situ Hongyu was dying. He had lost too much blood and lost all his energy. He was already a dying person, but she could save him. But the technique of bringing the dead back to life was a forbidden technique and she needed a lot of mana.

Liyou bit the middle fingers in both her hands and using a kneading technique, a cloud of red blood mist appeared. Liyou slowly moved with this blood mist, slowly enveloping Situ Hongyu with it.

Then Liyou flicked the blood beads that had condensed into crystallized stones in the air into Situ Hongyu’s mouth. Situ Hongyu felt his entire body tremble and he passed out.
